Torrington Civil War Walking Ghost Tour

Torrington Civil War Walking Ghost Tour

Fri 28 Oct 2022

The Battle of Torrington took place on 16th February 1646 during the English Civil War. It is sometimes called ‘the forgotten battle’ as it is seldom referred to in accounts of that period, but it was, in fact, the decisive battle of the final campaign of the West, which ruined the cause of King Charles I.

Come along on the trail of the battle around Torrington visit the streets where more than 15,000 men on foot and on horseback took part in the fierce fighting most of it hand to hand. Who was victorious? Royalists or Parliamentarians?
