Preston College Dance: Unlocked

Preston College Dance: Unlocked

Fri 25 Jun

We are absolutely delighted to be able to bring you this exuberant celebration of what Preston College Dance students have achieved during the pandemic.

Students and staff reacted remarkably well during the lockdowns, and have been massively creative in zoom classes while dancing in their kitchens, gardens garages or anywhere else they could find space.

They have also shown great resilience and adaptability, improving their digital skills, taking part in online showcases and working as one team to try to keep everybody positive.

Preston College Dance has for the last 28 years offered professional Dance training right in the heart of Lancashire for 16+ and degree students. When the impact of the pandemic hit in March 2020, 86 students were preparing to go to Excel in London to perform on the Main Stage at “Move it,” which was cancelled with less than 24 hours’ notice. As well as the general impact of the pandemic and lockdowns, these young people have missed out on so much – GCSE and A level exams, proms, trips, residential, shows, and performing at Move it- twice now.

Throughout it all, they have benefited from the support of their teachers, families and many industry professionals who have provided online workshops and their insights in to life in the entertainment industry. They have given this their all in the most difficult of circumstances.

There is however,  is no substitute for performing live, and The Preston Live Festival is giving them chance to do that  on  a big stage, finally unlocked.
